We’ve been a busy bunch in 3rd class these last few weeks. We had a wonderful student teacher, Ms. Moynan, who brought us to Hanly’s Woolen Mills for a history lesson based on our locality. A huge thank you to Brian Hanly for his guided tour – we learned lots about their business and had lots of fun!

We also had a great day out in Dromineer visiting the Eco Showboat & learning about our carbon footprint. We also got to explore and investigate creatures found in Lough Derg; we used keys to identify the mini creatures & magnifying glasses and microscopes to focus on their features. Ms Bergin & Ms Byrne nearly enjoyed this more than the children did! Of course we ended our visit with a well earned ice cream and trip to the playground! ☺️ A big thanks to the Eco Showboat Team & to Trish and Ms Moynan for accompanying us.

3rd class have also been completing some fantastic work this term. We learned about the Rainforest and in groups created and presented projects based on this theme. We used body percussion and our school instruments to create songs in small groups based on the sounds of the rainforest. Have a look at the beautiful animal & Easter art we created too! We completed STEM activities building miniature playgrounds and waterslides and had so much fun doing the Egg Drop Challenge. The class were also busy practising gymnastic skills during PE and we have some budding gardeners in our class – all of the children got to bring home some delicious lettuce and/or spinach we grew in our new tunnel! We’re looking forward to seeing how our beetroot and tomatoes turn out ☺️🍅🥬 Well done Rang a Trí 🤩👏🏼
