What Busy Bees we’ve been in Junior Infants over the last while! Take a look at some of the work and activities, which we completed throughout Spring…
Aistear allowed us to explore the topics of ‘The Supermarket’, ‘The Restaurant’, ‘The Garden Centre’, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ and ‘The Farm’ during this term. Between doing some shopping, preparing some food in the kitchen, planting some flower bulbs and vegetable seeds, pretending to be Goldilocks and taking care of the animals, it was all go in our classroom since February 1st!

We celebrated Lá le Pádraig/Seachtain na Gaeilge by competing in the “Féile an Aonaigh” competition. Both Junior Infant classes sang two songs as gaeilge, “Oisín agus Bó” and “Teidí Tinn”; bhí na páistí go léir ar fheabhas agus bhí na múinteoirí an-bhródúil astu.
Lots of special days took place over the last couple of months including St. Brigid’s Day, St. Valentine’s Day, Pancake Tuesday, World Book Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter. We created some beautiful pieces of Art, listened to some lovely stories and ate some delicious pancakes/Easter treats in celebration of these events. Well done also to Conor, Paddy and Pierce, who won our Easter Colouring Competition!

Gymnastics with Rody was a lot of fun, as was completing Stations in the hall for P.E. Junior Infants also put a huge amount of work into their posters for the Green Schools Competition and they turned out absolutely fabulous!

A huge thank you to Liam for bringing in some frogspawn as we learned about ‘The Life Cycle of the Frog’ in S.E.S.E. We have taken good care of our new little friends over the last three months by feeding them cucumber and changing their water weekly. They have transformed into tadpoles and are getting bigger by the day! Other interesting areas looked at in S.E.S.E. include ‘Chinese New Year’ (which saw us writing our names using Chinese symbols and making some Chinese lanterns) and ‘Spring’ (which saw us discussing and observing Nature as it begins to re-awaken again after a long Winter, and planting Tulip bulbs, beans, lettuce, radish and peas).

Here’s to longer evenings, better weather and LOTS MORE FUN for our last few weeks in Junior Infants!
