It has been a busy month in rang a dó full of excitement and joy with the return to school. Great credit is due to both the children and parents for all the hard work that was completed online during the school closure in January & February.
The excitement was palpable when we returned to school in March. The children were so happy to be back with all their friends and they created a super happy atmosphere and enjoyable learning environment.
Here is a snippet of some of the work we completed over the last month.
Maths class is always very busy, we worked very hard during the month on subtraction with renaming and money. We set up mini shops, priced our items and sold them to our partners within our pods. We practiced subtraction with renaming and completed hundreds of sums for practice.
In Geography, we learned all about the country of China and enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year. We were busy researching on the ipads and found lots of new and interesting information about the country. We enjoyed making dragon masks during art and we were proud of the finished product!
We also researched tourist attractions in Ireland on the Ipads and created our own tourist brochures after our online research.

We celebrated ‘World Book Day’ on March 4th. We designed our own book covers for our favourite books. We made origami bookmarks for all the books we plan to read. We also created and designed our unique facemasks.

March was full of days of celebration and we were kept busy during art creating teacup cards and bouquets for Mother’s Day, leprechauns, and snakes for St. Patrick’s Day and then the Easter art began. We painted Easter eggs, painted pasta and designed and decorated our cardboard Easter eggs, made Easter chicks and brought some Gaeilge into our art lessons. Rinneamar ciseáin na Chásca (Easter baskets) le neadacha lán le uibheacha seacláide.

We continue to work hard with our reading and writing every day. We have had a story writing competition or two: ‘If I found a pot of gold’ for St. Patrick’s Day and ‘Our Easter story’ for Easter. We put a lot of effort into our stories with the eagerly anticipated prize of an Easter egg at stake!!! Now its time for a break and the holidays are here. Happy Easter Everyone from rang a dó!
