Its Springtime at last, even if the weather doesn’t agree!! We have been busy in 2nd class. Here’s a snippet of what we’ve been up so far in 2020. We’ve been learning about special people in history like Gráinne Mhaol (Grace O’Malley), John Barry and Fionn Mc Cumhaill. We enjoyed making Grainne’s boat out of all sorts of materials. We gathered a collection of old and new items and enjoyed learning about the ‘olden’ days!
We learned so much about China and the Chinese New Year , we have been practicing our research skills using the i pads to find information and to test ourselves doing quizzes on Kahoot. We all enjoyed eating our fortune cookies and to finish off our Chinese theme we each performed our own puppet show using the Chinese dragon puppets we made as the main stars!
Its been an active term , we continue to be an active class completing our daily runs when weather has permitted. We’ve also enjoyed practicing our hurling skills, playing hurling & basketball matches and taking part in 6th classes 10@10. Our weekly yoga lessons have been a great hit and a great way to ‘wind down, stretch and relax’ after all the exercise!
We’ve been working so hard on our maths, solving problems together every morning and working with very big numbers has kept us busy during maths class.
We celebrated Valentine’s day by focusing on the artist ‘Kandinsky’ and created some lovely Kandinsky hearts using oil pastels. We’re all looking forward to the next few months when we will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
