Autumn in 2nd Class

Its been a busy few months in 2nd Class. Here is a snippet of what we’ve been up to. We celebrated Roald Dahl day in September.  Our teacher read us ‘The Twits’ which we really enjoyed. Everyone in the class searched our class library for Roald Dahl books, we have been reading quite a few books! We studied both Mr. & Mrs. Twit and had fun coming up with suitable adjectives for each of these strange characters!!the twitsthe twits 2

We created a collaborative class jigsaw, each child in the class decorated their own jigsaw piece and we assembled our class jigsaw with our class motto ‘We all fit together’. We had great fun creating our self portraits.

We have been studying all about Autumn and went on a leaf scavenger hunt all around the school , identifying native and non native trees. We painted Autumn trees and created leaf hedgehogs . We worked very hard on our writing and wrote all we had learned about  Autumn using  our very best writing!

We had some very special visitors and past pupils to the school at the beginning of October. They kindly brought the Liam Mc Carthy and James Nowlan cups to the school. We wore our colours with pride and got lots of photos with our heroes!

We had our enrolment mass for our First Holy Communion on October 13th which was made so special by the beautiful voices of our school choir.

The sun shone down on us as we participated in the football blitz last Thursday in Kiladangan. We had a brilliant afternoon of fun and  played some impressive football on the day.

After all our hard work , we celebrated Halloween with lots of  writing activities, and a spooky story competition. We created lots of art over the past few weeks and to finish it off we had a Halloween party before our mid term break. Everyone dressed up and we had a very spooky day in 2nd class, we really enjoyed scaring our poor teacher!!
