Springtime in Rang a ceathair: Term 2

We have  been very  busy this term in rang a ceathair. Here is a snippet of some of the things  we got up to! We celebrated World Book Day in March, we designed new covers for our novels, completed book reviews and comic strips , we also watched online clips listening to our favourite authors who were full of great advise! We all joined in to make a collaborative poster celebrating World Book Day, we were very happy with the results!

We have done so much work on our new novel ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ and have enjoyed reading the story so far, writing postcards from various characters in the book, staining our postcards using teabags and coffee was great fun!! We also painted scenes from the novel depicting Michael the young boy who gets stranded on a desert island.

We were successful participants in Féile an Aonaigh again this year. We each earned certificates and a plaque for all of our hard work! We also held an art competition, designing and decorating our Seanfhocail.20190412_133510[1]20190412_133323[1]20190327_124533

We had an interesting afternoon with Sean O’Farrell from Colcannon Biofarm, we studied the local flora and fauna and got up close and personal with creatures from the pond! We also participated in the school’s ‘Spring Clean’ and collected rubbish in and around the school.

This month we have had a new challenge in rang a ceathair. We have taken on the role of teachers, planning and presenting our very own lessons! This will continue until June so everyone will get a chance to teach a lesson in the subject of their choice. So  far, Sadhb, Mairéad, Amy and Hannah organised fun playground games. Gabi, Jacub and Matt presented their science lesson on magnetic forces, Sophie and Clíona gave a very enjoyable and fun lesson during which we all got to make  our own slime. Ava and Kailyn organised a hilarious drama lesson and Caoimhe showed us how to make beautiful art using our initials. Abigail gave an interesting talk about horses and all things equine. Lauren kindly brought her pet hedgehog ‘April’ to visit us and gave us a very interesting talk about hedgehogs and their care, it was also April’s birthday on the day, we hope she enjoyed spending her birthday in rang a ceathair!!

Happy Easter to Everyone , enjoy the well earned break!
