There was huge excitement in our morning assembly last Friday when Mrs. O’Halloran told us that the winner of the Pope Francis Competition was Carrig N.S. 5th Class pupil Jane Boland!
The competition asked children to design vestments for Pope Francis which will be made and presented to him during his upcoming visit to Ireland. Jane’s winning design, chosen from more than 4,500 entries, has already been sent to Italy to be made and she is very excited to talk about it this Wednesday when the Society of Missionary Children, who ran the competition, will visit the school to interview her.
As you can see from Jane’s design, she is an incredibly talented artist and the teachers, students and staff of Carrig N.S. are all both delighted for her and extremely proud of this amazing achievement.
