Yoga, Tae-Kwon-Do & Blitzes! ASW Day 3

The school had a very busy day on Thursday for Active Schools Week. Siobhán O’ Leary, a yoga instructor, kindly gave some time to visit Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class and taught some yoga. The children did lots of stretching and jumping, learned some yoga poses and even went for a relaxing nap! Siobhan also had some super students from 3rd and 4th class give her a hand! 😴🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏻‍♀️

Pat Meagher, a neighbour of the school, then came up and taught 2nd and 3rd class some Tae Kwon Do. Pat is a Master of Tae Kwon Do and our very own Thia from 4th class, who is a student of his, helped out in demonstrating some incredible high kicks and other moves! 2nd and 3rd class were so impressed! The children had loads of fun using the different equipment and learning some cool moves. 🥋🥊

The senior classes also had a fabulous evening competing in blitzes and enjoying the sunshine. Mixed teams were made of pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class and each team rotated to different stations, playing soccer, basketball and rounders. It was a lovely opportunity for the children from different classes to mix and get active! ⚽️🏀🎾☀️

A huge thank you to both Siobhan and Pat who so kindly volunteered to take part in our Active Schools Week 2018! 😄
