Last week was Engineers Week and in 5th Class we took on a design and make challenge to celebrate!

We watched some videos of Marble Runs/Pinball machines to get an idea of what was involved.  Then we got together in our groups to come up with designs.

After that we worked out what materials we would need to make our designs a reality.  We used some things that were available to us in the classroom but we also brought in materials from home, many of them recycled.

We had to do a lot of problem solving and work as a team to figure out how to fix our marble runs when they were not working properly but all of our efforts were well worth it!

Even Engineers Ireland were impressed!
